4 individual services for students at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet provides different individual services in order to make the life of its students easier. Here you will read about the ones I find more useful:

Academic writing:

Karolinska Institutet Library affords individualized guidance service to help you improve your academic writing and oral presentation skills. You can make an appointment in person or online, but you need to consider that:

You can ask for up to two appointments per text that you need help with.
You will be asked to send your text before the appointment takes place, in order to allow a KI Library staff member to read it and prepare recommendations beforehand.
The appointments take place mostly at Solna campus.
The service is available both in English and Swedish.
The appointments are free of charge.

KI Library staff is really professional and helpful. They are also always in a very surprisingly good mood that makes academic writing kind of fun!

Study-related health issues:

The Student Health Centre at KI offers support and guidance sessions for study-related issues. The service is provided by professionals including nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists and doctors.

Study-related problems are really common and they are no reason to be ashamed of. By acknowledging the prevalence of these issues that could impact your performance and health, we are also fighting the stigma surrounding them. Luckily, KI recognizes the importance of mental health and offers this service free of charge.

Lifestyle related concerns
Performance anxiety
Speech anxiety
Problems with concentration
Problems with the study environment
Sleeping disorder
Depression
Crisis

Pick up service:

If you are an international student, you can request to be “picked up” upon your arrival to Stockholm. The KI Pick up service staff will make the arrangements necessary to have one current student waiting for you at T Centralen station, in order to escort you to your new residence. Students will provide you with a map of Stockholm and useful tips for getting around the city. I must confess that even I did not use the service, I regret it very much since it is a very friendly way to arrive to this overwhelming city. This service is completely free of charge.

KI Printing services:

KI has an online system that makes printing a very easy task. You only need to access the system from any computer and upload the documents you want to print, either in black or colour. There are several printing/scanning machines distributed along campus Solna and Flemingsberg. You will need to tap on your KI student card in order to release the printing jobs. KI gifts you with a small credit when you register on the system, but afterwards you will need to buy more “print-outs” (printing credits) using any debit/credit card.
