Best garden cafés in Stockholm

Now that the 4th winter is finally over and spring has arrived, it is time to explore Stockholm’s beautiful garden cafés. As you may have gathered from my previous blogs, my love for food and Sweden’s culinary scene offers far more than just iconic meatballs! What I am talking about are tasty sandwiches, crisp salads, and of course irresistible pastries.

So where can you find the green gems of Stockholm? Here are my favorite 3 garden cafés in Stockholm!

Slottsträdgården Ulriksdal

Whether you want to pick your vegetables, find the supplies for your home plant setup, or enjoy a delicious meal Ulriksdal Slottsträdgården is your pick. Right next to Ulriksdals Palace in the royal park, it is a quick trip from the city center.

It features a huge garden shop stocked with high-quality plants, handy tools, and beautiful garden accessories, offering everything you could possibly need! In the summer and fall you have the chance to pick your corn, pumpkin, artichoke, or any other vegetable that comes up in your mind.

The best part after a long day finding delicious vegetables, tools, and flowers for your home, is to have a seat at the marvelous cafe. It offers locally sourced ingredients for its tasty lunch buffet or brunch fika.

Close to Stockholm University and just a stone’s throw from Stockholm’s inner city is the Bergianska gamla orangeriet. They offer an incredible brunch menu made from local and organic ingredients. Tasty soups, sandwiches, pasta, and pastries made from scratch all year around.

They also arrange events year-round. We went to the harvest day and had the chance to buy local produce, tubers, and flower bulbs.

It is conveniently located in Bergianska Trädgården so you can visit the botanical garden right after. You can see the famous water lily pads and experience different tropical climates.

What would this list be without the notorious Rosendals Trädgård? Right in the heart of Djurgården, it is a prominent destination for anyone exploring Stockholm. It is one of the most well-known garden cafes but definitely one of the best garden cafes. It is a true gem inside the middle of Stockholm and lives up to the hype. The biodynamic garden provides the cafe with fresh and sustainable products offering delicious sandwiches, soups, pastries, and freshly baked bread from their artisan bakery.

But it is not only meant for the products but also for you! You can lay underneath the apple orchid with your kannelbullar and enjoy the Swedish summer or pick your flowers from the beautiful flower meadow. If you want to put your green thumb to use you should explore the plant shop and bring something back home.

By combining sustainability and quality, Rosendals Trädgård provides a true farm-to-fork experience worth every visit.

I am Tade. I am Nigerian/German and the blogger for the Master’s Programme in Nutrition Science. Before KI, I was studying in the Netherlands. My whole life I was interested in food and sports, and that is why I decided to study nutrition. When I learned about KIs group-focused teaching and the international environment I knew where I wanted to go. When I am not exploring or trying different foods I am playing basketball in Solna. If you are ever up for the challenge, you know where to find me!
