Where to go running in Stockholm!

Now that it’s getting (relatively) warm again, I’ve really been enjoying my outdoor runs! So in this blog, I’d thought I’d share a few of my favourite places to go on runs in Stockholm. From Djurgården to Södermalm, Stockholm is the runner’s dream. There are so many paths to go on runs, whether in the inner city, parks or forest! Here are five areas where I like to go to run!

Kungsholmen

I live close to Kungsholmen so I may be a bit biased, but on my longer runs I really enjoying a run around the island. It’s quite flat, and its lovely to run by the water (plus the views are great!). In the summer, you can even take a swim (as there are so many swimming points around the island).

Södermalm

If I want to feel the city vibes, and treat myself to a pastry after my run, Södermalm is my go-to. Plus, if you run around the island, the views are lovely and there’s always a lot happening, which makes for a fun and attentive run. Plus you won’t be the only runner, as a lot of people take walks/runs around Södermalm, which always tends to boost my motivation.

Djugården

If you want to go on long runs away from the bustling city, I recommend Djugården! It’s a park in the eastern part of Stockholm, where you will also encounter a lot of other runners but a lot of green too! Perfect for long runs!

Hagaparken

Lastly, we have Hagaparken! Super close to KI, you’re close to the city, but at the same time quite far from it, as you’re surrounded by lots of nature. There’s a lot more of non-paved routes here, so its nice if you want to go for a trail run. And of course its proximity to KI, means its perfect for a run after class.

There are a lot of lovely places to go running in Stockholm, and these are some of my favourite! Now that summer is soon upon us, I will be making the most of the sunny days and cool views!

Camila - Translational Physiology and Pharmacology

Hej hej, I’m Camila! I’m Venezuelan and Spanish, but I grew up in Oman. Currently, I am studying the Master’s Programme in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology. My interest in the programme, fascinating research groups and the international environment drove me to apply to KI. In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, writing, running and getting fika with friends. Besides the cold, I am very excited to be in Sweden for the upcoming two years and to explore all the cafes, thrift stores and sunset spots scattered throughout Stockholm.
