What should I do while waiting for the selection results?
Time to complete the application has passed. Now it is the time to wait for the selection results. Should I only sit down nicely and wait for the selection results on April? Or is there anything meaningful I can do while I am waiting? Perhaps those are your questions during this time.
Here I will share six suggestions on what you should do while waiting for the selection results.
1. Check your account on University Admission regularly
You have submitted all documents needed. But then now you start to think: Did I upload all the documents correctly? Did I miss something on my CV? How could I possibly know that I have done all stuffs rightly? Instead of worrying about those things, you should log in to the University Admission website. There you can see what is going on with your application status.
In my experience last year, it took few weeks until my application status was changed from “in process” (it means that they are assessing your application) to “qualified” (it means that you met the general and specific entry requirements for the programmes you have applied to).
In addition, you should also check your inbox in the University Admission account. If you need to complete your documents, there might be some messages in the inbox.
2. Remember the important dates
You may need to know when the deadline for applying scholarship is, the date for the selection results on the first and second round, etc. Save the important dates in your calendar so that you will not miss anything.
3. Apply some scholarships
Depending on the country you come from, you may need to apply for scholarships. Some scholarship you could apply include the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) and The Karolinska Institutet Global Master’s Scholarships. The application period for these scholarships will be closed soon. Don’t miss out!
4. Feel content
You might have realized that you forgot to mention important information on your application form or you should have written something more on your statement of intent. Don’t regret it. It’s done. You have worked hard during the application period. Be content with what you have done 🙂
5. Think about the plan B
Like an old saying, let’s hope for the best, but also prepare for the worst. What if I did not get any scholarship? What if I did not get accepted? Those questions were spinning around in my head while I was waiting for the selection results.
In my experience, when waiting for the selection results, I tried to find a remote job from my home country for earning some money while studying (this was my plan B in case I did not get any scholarship). In that way, I could do my job in Sweden (and of course, study at the same time) although my employer is from my home country.
6. Contact the admission office if you still have any questions
If you still have questions regarding the application process while you are waiting for the selection results, ask the official sources. You might want to check the frequency ask questions (FAQ) for Global Bachelor’s or Master’s Programmes first. If you could not find the answer in FAQ section, you can send your questions to KI admission office.
Those are my suggestions about what to do when waiting for the selection results. Until we meet again!
